Gastroenterology & Endoscopy
Gastroenterology & Endoscopy
Advanced diagnostics and full-scope digestive care, led by GI specialists.
GI concerns can feel confusing. They interrupt your day, your routine, and your peace of mind. Your care at Kootenai Health is led by gastroenterologists who focus entirely on digestive health. From diagnosis through follow-up, you’re working with physicians trained specifically in this area, using advanced procedures and condition-specific clinics to understand what’s going on and guide treatment.
That focus shows up in our colonoscopy detection rates, which are more than double the national benchmark. Higher detection rates are directly linked to finding precancerous changes earlier, before they have a chance to progress. It’s not something you may think about when choosing care, but it can affect what’s found and when.
Waiting is its own kind of hard which is why we move quickly to get you scheduled, whether you need a screening, care for new symptoms, or support for an ongoing condition. Screening colonoscopies can be scheduled without a referral. For other concerns, referrals are reviewed the same or next day and with appointments scheduled within 4 weeks. For IBD or liver disease, a dedicated nurse navigator helps you manage care, supported by an on-site specialty pharmacy.

Find Your Path to Care
Getting to the right care is easier than navigating it on your own. Here's how most patients get started:
Scheduling a screening colonoscopy: If you're 45 or older and have no symptoms, you can schedule directly—no referral required. Call us to schedule.
Your provider referred you: We'll reach out directly. Our referral nurses review every request to connect you with the right specialist and most patients hear back within a day, with an appointment scheduled within weeks.
You have symptoms or concerns: If something doesn’t feel right, you don’t need to wait. Call us or reach out through MyChart, and our team will help you take the next step. If your symptoms are getting worse or can’t wait, we hold appointments each day for more urgent needs. Virtual visits are also available through MyChart, depending on your situation.
